Mulligan Manual Therapy Courses
Tutor: Thomas Mitchell
Thomas Mitchell is an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist from Sheffield. His background in elite sport includes stints at GB boxing and GB wheelchair rugby. This sporting background combined with his work as a hand specialist and primary care FCP gives Thomas a very rounded perspective on MSK healthcare. As the UK’s only Mulligan Teacher Thomas completed the examination at The International Mulligan Conference in Copenhagen in 2017. He has hosted masterclasses with Brian Mulligan at his own clinic Remedy Physio in Sheffield and spent time developing his knowledge and ideas with eminent therapists in the field such as Robin Blake & Toby Hall.
One of the strengths of Thomas’ approach is his passion for self management. Along with great therapist handling techniques, Thomas teaches patient directed techniques on this course which allow patients to modify their own symptoms, forming part of a truly multimodal approach to rehab. This is very much a manual therapy course updated and fit for modern practice. The course recognizes uncertainty and the limitations of manual therapy, the impacts that our language can have on patients. All essential skills for the manual therapist seeking to maximize the benefits of symptom modification in their practice.
